Bioprocess Control signs agreement with ABB

Lund based Bioprocess Control Sweden AB, winner of the Swedish national clean-tech innovations competition MiljöInnovation 2007, has signed an agreement with ABB AB (Process Automation). During the first half of 2008, Bioprocess Control and ABB will assess the possibility of integrating Bioprocess Control’s prize winning process optimisation software application Biogas OptimizerTM with ABB’s award winning industrial IT system 800xA.

A pre-study to assess both the technical and business advantages of integrating Biogas OptimizerTM with the 800xA automations system will begin at the beginning of January and continue until June.

- This agreement fits very well with our ambition to streamline the installation of Biogas OptimizerTM through partnering with a leading provider of automations systems. Moreover, this development will help to position Biogas OptimizerTM as a leading application for optimizing the production of biogas, commented Kristofer Cook, CEO for Bioprocess Control.

The 800xA system extends the scope of traditional control systems to include all automations functions in a single operations and engineering environment, enabling biogas plants to perform smarter and better at substantial cost savings.

- Integrating Biogas OptimizerTM with the 800xA automations system would further help to position the 800xA system as a natural alternative for newly constructed as well as existing biogas plants. We consider Bioprocess Control to be a leader in their field providing an innovative application that can add value to our product, commented Joakim Askviken, Vice President Process Automation, ABB Sweden.
