Breakthrough agreement signed with E.ON Gas Sverige AB

Lund based Bioprocess Control, winner of last year’s Swedish national clean-tech innovations competition, has signed its first sales agreement with E.ON Gas Sverige. After the summer, Bioprocess Control will start a pre-study at the Wrams Gunnarstorp biogas site located outside of Bjuv in Skåne, Sweden.

A Biogas Optimizer PRE-STUDY will start in August and continue until early next year. The purpose of the PRE-STUDY is to evaluate the potential of Bioprocess Control’s prize winning process optimisation application Biogas OptimizerTM to increase the efficiency of the Wrams Gunnarstorp site.

- This first sales agreement is an important step in the development of Bioprocess Control, as it helps position our company as a leading supplier of process optimisation technology in the Swedish biogas market. It also opens the door to other business opportunities across Europe, as E.ON is recognised as not only a leader in the Swedish biogas industry, but also the European biogas industry, operating a growing number of large and industrial scale biogas sites in Sweden and Germany, commented Kristofer Cook, CEO for Bioprocess Control.

E.ON Gas Sverige has currently a business interest in five biogas sites in Sweden with a production capacity of over 70 GWh, in addition to having several hundred GWh of production capacity in the planning and construction stages. Increasing fossil fuel costs along with the potential of biogas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are two driving forces increasing both the level of interest and investment in the biogas industry.

- Biogas is an important part of the renewable energy mix, and will continue to grow in importance for E.ON. Increasing the efficiency and profitability of our biogas investments is something we are very interested in. Biogas Optimizer TM is an innovative solution that has the potential to increase the efficiency of not only our current biogas investments such as Wrams Gunnarstorp, but also our future biogas projects, commented Hans Kreisel, CEO for E.ON Gas Sverige.
