As such, this service portfolio has the potential to provide significant value to both biogas operators and designers & builders of biogas sites. Included in this portfolio are the following: IPAS, Lab Simulation, Plant-Wide Computer Simulation, Process Diagnosis, and Substrate Analysis.
Intelligent Process Automation Solutions
Bioprocess Control provides advice in terms of how to design Intelligent Process Automation Solutions (IPAS) for the biogas industry, integrating key process knowledge with the latest developments in the area of instrumentation, control and automation of biogas plants & processes. The result is an automations solution a step above the competition in terms of performance and value.
Lab Simulation
The Lab Simulation service can be carried out for both existing biogas plants and plants still at the design stage. This service provides designers and plant operators with insight regarding the degradation efficiency of a biogas digester and under what process conditions biogas production and waste handling can be optimised, operational savings can be maximised, and sludge volumes minimised.
This service can be carried out through our own lab or in the lab of one of our partners.
Plant-Wide Computer Simulation
The Plant-Wide Computer Simulation service provides designers and operators with a computer based simulation of a biogas plant. This type of simulation model can be utilised to identify and remove costly bottlenecks that can emerge in a plant design before a plant is built. For biogas operators, this service can be used to either evaluate several plant designs before making a final decision on a new biogas plant or provide a roadmap for future investments to improve plant efficiency at an existing plant. For designers & builders, this service can be used to both test and improve the potential efficiency of one or several site designs.
Process Diagnosis
The Process Diagnosis service involves on-line and real-time monitoring of an existing plant over several months and/or an assessment of historical process information. Operators are provided with and assessment of current plant efficiency, existing process bottlenecks and insight regarding the potential to optimise biogas production from a process control standpoint, in terms of increased gas production, reactor utilisation and process safeguarding.
Substrate Analysis
The Substrate Analysis service can be carried out on an existing substrate or a new substrate that a designer or operator wishes to assess. This service focuses on better understanding the dynamic characteristics of a substrate during its degradation, and thus provides insight regarding the optimum retention time and mixture of substrates for maximising reactor utilisation and profits. The service can also be used to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment technologies and co-digestion techniques. This service can be carried out through our own lab or in the lab of one of our partners.
Customisation of Biogas OptimizerTM
Bioprocess Control can upon request customise any specific Biogas OptimizerTM module to meet the specific needs of a biogas operator. This can be done in connection with the annual performance review, any application upgrade or at any time during the license period.
